Harry Potter magic continues

For the second weekend in a row, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire has left its North American box office competitors far in its wake, preliminary figures showed on Sunday.

The fourth and most frightening film in the top-selling Harry Potter franchise was expected to take in $54.9m (about R358m) in ticket sales for the Friday through Sunday period, according to California-based box office tracker Exhibitor Relations.

That would bring the Goblet of Fire total since its release 10 days ago to $201m, making it one of the year's best-selling movies.

Robbie Coltrane unsure about OOTP

In an interview with The Sunday Times, actor Robbie Coltrane, who plays Hagrid in the Harry Potter movies, said the following:
"Well, it takes nine months to make a Potter movie. There's not a lot else you can do. You can't tell people to put their film on hold till you're ready in September, it doesn't work that way.
"I mean, I'm doing this play but that's only three weeks. We'll see what happens now that I've finished the Potter films. I signed for four and I've done them now. There's no great mystery to these things."

Potter 5 open auditions unlikely

Filming on the fifth Potter movie - The Order of the Phoenix - is due to start in January 2006, and there have already been lots of rumours about casting.
The script won't be finalised for months, so at the moment it's unclear whether characters like Luna Lovegood will make it into the movie.
But it's unlikely that there will be casting calls that anyone can go to.
A spokesperson for Warner Bros. told CBBC Newsround: "We don't automatically do open casting calls."
"We only do them when it's particularly challenging to find the correct person for a particular part."
That's why open casting sessions were held for the Patil twins, and for Cho Chang.
It was very difficult finding young actresses with the right appearance through acting agencies.
In the case of characters like Luna Lovegood or Michael Corner - if they're not cut from the film - it's almost certain they'd be filled without the need for open casting calls.
Filming on The Goblet of Fire will be drawing to a close soon.
Actor Henry Lloyd-Hughes plays Ravenclaw quidditch captain Roger Davies.
We have our first look at the actor from his appearance in BBC TV drama The Rotter's Club.
Davies takes Fleur Delacour, played by Clemence Poesy, to the Yule Ball.

'No truth whatsoever' in Hurley rumor
Posted by Matthew on 02-08-05

It was rumored last week that actress Elizabeth Hurley (Austin Powers) had been approached to play an "evil witch" in the Order of the Phoenix movie, presumably Bellatrix Lestrange. However, TLC is now reporting that Warner Bros. has debunked the rumor, saying that there is "no truth whatsoever" in it.

Goblet of Fire' still number one in the U.S.
Posted by GERI

Early weekend estimates show that Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is still number one at the U.S. box office with $19.8 million, way ahead of the new release Aeon Flux at $12.6 million. The movie has now taken in over $562 million worldwide.

Goblet of Fire is currently ahead of all previous U.S. released Potter movies during the same period by over $10 million and the only movie in the U.S. this year to spend three weekends at No. 1. Internationally the movie is doing very well with China and the UK leading the pack.
